The Westminster dojo is a 501(c)3 federal nonprofit organization. Instructors volunteer their time to teach. We teach Ki-Aikido and Ki principles (how the mind and body work together), as taught by the international headquarters dojo in Japan. Three of our instructors have been certified through Japan as Assistant Ki Lecturers.

The Westminster dojo currently has four instructors with extensive training and teaching experience:

      • Ron Charpentier- 3rd Dan
      • Lance McClure- 3rd Dan
      • Derek Nabel- 3rd Dan
      • Jennifer Petkus - 1st Dan

Ron Charpentier Sensei began training in the mid 1980's. He currently teaches adult classes as well as sometimes substitute teaching in our children's classes.

Lance McClure Sensei started training in 1990 and Derek Nabel Sensei in 1993. McClure Sensei, and Nabel Sensei trained with Russell Jones Sensei as uchideshi as well as working with the children's program. Both currently head our kids program as well as teach adults.

Jennifer Petkus Sensei began her training in 1996. She currently teaches adults.

All of our instructors have travelled to seminars to train with high ranking Ki-Aikido instructors. Two have had the opportunity to travel to Japan to train. Our instructors all continue to train as well as teach, as they believe this helps them to progress more and to bring fresh energy to their teachings.

All instructors have trained extensively with Kashiwaya Sensei, founder of Ki-Aikido in Colorado. He currently is senior advisor of Ki Society for the United States. He now lives in Seattle, WA and frequently travels around the United States teaching Ki-Aikido and Ki Development.
